Cleansing is a must-do at least twice a day, both in the morning and at night because it removes dust, pollutants and dead cells from your face. Without cleansing, our faces will appear dirty, shiny and dull and not to mention bacterial infections like acne.
To cleanse your face well, massage the cleansers onto your face in a circular motion by using your fingers and then rinse it off after a few minutes. Gently pat your face dry with a towel and do not rub as your skin tissue may stretch and sag with time.
If you have sensitive skin or prefer something natural on your skin, use natural facial cleansers to wash away the daily build-up without stripping the skin's essential's natural attributes. You could look around your kitchen and garden as homemade recipes can give you good and beautiful skin as well.
Tip No.2 - Exfoliating
Exfoliating provides a more thorough cleaning than cleansing as it removes the topmost layer of the skin along with its debris and build-up through the use of a natural exfoliating agent such as salt, sugar or sand. It prevents the pores from clogging and helps to stimulate the production of collagen, encouraging growth of new skin cells.
Exfoliation helps to diminish fine lines and made your skin softer and more subtle. It is recommended to exfoliate at least two to three times a week depending on the individual skin type but do not overdo as excessive exfoliation can also cause damage to your skin.
Tip No.3 - Toning
Facial toning is a part of facial skincare routine which many people neglect. Toning not only removes traces of dirt and debris that are left after cleansing but also helps tighten the pores up and reduce the chance of any bacterial infection.
Tip No.4 - Moisturising
Everyone needs to moisturise because it helps to hydrate the skin and prevent it from further moisture loss. Otherwise, skin gets dry, starts to peel, crack and itch. Moisturising can also provide a protective barrier to stop moisture from escaping from the skin.
Therefore, moisturise daily and on other parts of body as well to obtain smooth, soft and supple skin. The best time to moisturise is directly after a shower, when the pores are open so the skin will absorb the moisturiser easily and quickly.
To maximise the absorption of moisturiser on your face, stimulate the skin cells by tapping the skin's surface lightly after applying.
Tip No.5 - Sunscreen
Apply sunscreen when you go outdoors. Most often than not, ageing is accelerated through sun exposure. The sun rays are harmful to our skin, leading to lines, age spots and wrinkles.
Although our skin manufactures vitamin D in the presence of sunlight, too much sun on our skin can cause skin cancer. Therefore, it is advisable to apply sun screen daily because it helps to protect against the harmful effects of the sun as well as reduce the signs of ageing.
